“I remember when I was younger I wanted to be beautiful, now I’m older and I want to be intelligent. I want to burn hearts with brilliance and engulf souls with compassion. I want to be loved for my thoughts and nothing else.”
Assalamualaykumwarahmatullahwabarakatuh dearest blog readers.
I began some serious soul searching at the beginning of this year,2016. Paying more attention to myself as an individual. Experimenting a lot with new techniques in my daily lifestyle. And basically, trying to be the best version of myself. I’ve realized that the key to being a positive and productive person in life has a lot to do with your daily lifestyle, from how you start your day, to what you do throughout the day, and finally how you end it.
Today in this post, I’ll be sharing with you some tips and ways to create a morning routine for a positive and productive day.
Before we proceed, lets take a look at what elements make a good morning routine.
An effective morning routine will:
- Fill you up with positive energy,
- Highlight your priorities for the day,
- Leave you feeling energized and ready to take on the world,
- Bring you closer to your goals in life.
IDENTIFY ACTIVITIES THAT ENERGIZE YOU AND WHY STARTING THIS ROUTINE IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.
Compile a list of activities that makes you feel energized. Also, identify why starting a new routine is essential to you.
Here are a few ideas to get you started on that list.
- Wake up for fajr
- Read a page of the Quran
- Drink a warm glass of water with lemon juice
- A gentle morning yoga routine or exercise
- Eat a nourishing breakfast
- Play with your pets
- Read something positive and uplifting
- write morning pages
- write down 3 things you’re grateful for
- spread kindness and and do something positive for someone else
- focus on personal hygiene
- set your one BIG goal of the day
- give yourself a high-five in the mirror and repeat to yourself – “I am going to kick ass today!”
HOW MUCH TIME CAN YOU DEDICATE TO THIS NEW ROUTINE
Lets face it. Change can take a while to adapt to. You may not be completely ready to adapt to a new morning routine just yet! That’s completely okay. You can start with little baby steps – simply start with where you are right now, waking up 10 minutes earlier to dedicate it to exercising an activity that energizes you. (the list you made in step 1)
Now go back and review your list and circle the items that you can incorporate in your routine based on the little time you have in the morning!
WHAT TOOLS AND APPS CAN SUPPORT YOUR NEW ROUTINE
Alhamdulilah we live in a digital age and the world wide web has provided us with a lot of useful tools and applications that can help us be more productive.
Now that you’ve decided what will be part of your new morning routine; to help you stay motivated and on track, I want you to research and identify what tools + apps can help support you each day.
Here are a few I love….
EXERCISE + YOGA
GOALS + JOURNALING
I’d love to dare you to see what changes you can make to better your current morning routine so you can create a positive and productive routine that sets you up for your best possible day.
Remember, consistency is one of the keys to success. Try to be as consistent as you possibly can with this new routine you created, and insha’Allah you’re on your way to being a better version of yourself.
