“I think hijab is of a certain importance. not only to protect ourselves from sin, & whatnot, but to keep us from all the judgement. thank God, there are those in the world who are open minded, & those are the ones who actually ask about us. who ask about who we are. we are people, just like anyone else. we live our lives with a scarf on & clothes to cover our assets. we still have hair, & we can shower. we’re regular people, & I encourage all hijabis to go out there & show the world that they have a voice. they’re not “oppressed.” they love their lifestyle & they’re just as American, or British, or Australian as anyone else.”
